you are beautiful
I said as we spoke
for hours
about sunsets and wars

I loved you then
though you were a stranger
but there was such beauty
as we spoke
I was broken with joy

all of humanity
yearns for this feeling
to love a stranger
purely deeply totally
if only for a second

if it were colours
it would be dawn
filling the sky with magic
if it were life
it would be branches
bursting with flowers

it is life
straining to be born
from the touches
of people learning to see
out of others' eyes
