The heat and humidity here
in this cafe
this almost-September-night
take me back to days
of carefree laughter happiness
South Carolina pickup truck
a man named Cooter
lazy nights of sunsets stories
the folks drinking on the porch
whitewashed the sweet green
of the lawn I lay upon
My love I couldn't tell you
with all the words I know
the power of this memory
my hands are shaking now
as if you touched me
pulled me out of my father's arms
like time like sorrow did
If you really want to know me
look at me tonight
my eyes reflect the moments
that boil inside my soul
Watch carefully my love
for soon I shall be steam
